When using the ListData.svc service in SharePoint 2016 to get data from a list we got this error. We did make changes on the list but error does not clarify. Look for issues like:

- Lookup column where lookup list no longer exists
- Lookup column that looks at the same list (recursive) - typically this can be created when inheriting from a content type

Remove these and all should be fine again
